Honda Accord CL3 | Winter Dream?

After almost 15 years without a Honda I wanted to try it again and bought a CL3 Accord with the 2.3 VTEC quite cheap from an elderly gentlemen in the Black Forest. So, after many RWD-only winters I drove FWD again. And let me tell you… I was so glad we had only one week of snow in the 2016/17 winter! Front wheel drive is just horrible and takes all the fun out of driving in wintery conditions. Therefore I sold the Accord as soon as the the first flowers blossomed and went back to rear wheel drive cars for good. Never again am I going to buy a winter car that powers the wrong axle.

And even though I didn’t do anything to the real car, apart from replacing the fake wood interior trim pieces with fake carbon from a Type-R model, I went creative with Adobe Photoshop and let my mind wander. What if the Accord had rear or all wheel drive? It could sure enough be a nice ride for any winter, don’t you think?

Modifications could include Rays TE37 wheels (or cheap knock-offs because they would get damaged by the salt anyway), auxiliary driving lights, mudflaps and a roof rack. The reality looked rather bland in comparison, as you can see in the picture below. I didn’t even bother to buy the Streusalz Edition stickers.

The Honda was very reliable and never let me down. And to be honest… I absolutely loved the rear wing with the integrated Gurney flap.

Honda N600 P/U

A couple of weeks ago I found the picture of a Honda N600 that has been converted to a pick-up truck. The car in the picture is in a very sorry shape, so I decided to create a properly executed photoshop chop of how it could look like in reality. Wouldn’t be that hard to fabricate one, actually. Or as the slogan goes: Honda – The Power of Dreams.

Honda CR-X | Gulf Edition

Though being a fan of the later ED9 model, I always liked the early Honda CRX. It’s a sporty little runabout that makes you grin at every roundabout. The CRX has lots of potential and I went ahead and tried to make the best of it. The body itself is nearly perfect with clear lines and, compared to the vehicles we see today, no unnecessary bling. Just straight lines in the best late 80’s fashion.

The car has been lowered over a set of period correct Ronal Turbo 15″ wheels and has been painted in Gulf colors. I did however retain the two-tone theme of the original.

Honda CR-Z Type-R

The Honda CR-Z is inspired by the unforgettable ED9 CRX. Honda nailed it quite well, but I thought there is still room for improvement. I changed the B-pillar and side window to give the vehicle a more muscular touch. Apart from that the CR-Z has been lowered over a set of nice lightweight aluminum wheels and a body kit has been added. Changes the appearance quite a bit, doesn’t it?

Honda Insight Type-R

Why shouldn’t Hybrid cars be fun to drive? Why having a small and lame engine when you could have a nifty Type-R engine? Why are most Hybrid cars so ugly? The first generation Honda Insight had potential to succeed the famous ED9 CIVIC. Unfortunately the potential has never been used at all. The size and proportions of the car are actually perfect for a little runabout – with the engine and powertrain carried over from existing Honda models. Would I drive the Insight Type-R? Hell yeah!

Honda CIVIC Si Hatchback

Oh yes. Another one of those pocket rockets from the eighties. This Honda CIVIC Si has been dropped, larger wheels have been added and the windows tinted. The exhaust system has that stock OEM look, but is larger in diameter.

Another Honda from the 80’s. Only minor modifications to create this virtual model. I retained the stock look of the third generation CIVIC Hatchback and just lowered it over 15″ mesh wheels. The lights have been altered also for a cleaner look.

The third generation CIVIC still had the sleek and clean design typical of 80’s Hondas. This one was just lowered and a set of up-to-date larger diameter wheels have been installed.

Honda Prelude BA2

In my opinion, Hondas of the 80’s have had a very sleek and clean design – there being no need to change anything on the body or trim. The BA2 Prelude was the first Honda I owned. This one has been lowered over period correct 15 inch mesh wheels and the windows have been tinted.
